Cassie Johnston’s Story

Here is Cassie’s brave and incredible struggle that she is currently going through.
33-year old Cassie Johnston is a single mother and sole carer to two beautiful children. Jack 4 and Maddison who will be 2 in July.

In April 2019, she had a tumour removed from her right ring finger which was biopsied and confirmed to be malignant. After further testing it was reported was reported to be an aggressive and very rare soft tissue cancer, clear cell sarcoma.
Cass returned to Newcastle her hometown for support.
Treatments for a rare and aggressive cancer are costly and unfortunately, she is not able to access the recommended treatment due to it not being on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, cannot be accessed through Medicare and is too costly to access.
Despite a CT scan, done in February, indicating the medication may have been working, a PET scan revealed it’s not. The cancer has continued to grow.
Cassie is starting immunotherapy treatment in the next 2-3 weeks, 3 infusions at $6200 each.
Cassie had a fundraiser scheduled for last month but it has been postponed due to the COVID-19 but she still requires our help.
Wishing Cassie all the best for the future and we hope Cassie finds success with her treatment.
